11 Killed, 1 Missing After Thunderstorms, Gales Strike Central China

Ushuaia: Eleven people were killed after thunderstorms and gales hit the eastern part of central China's Hubei Province.

According to Qatar News Agency, thunderstorms and strong winds hit Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou, and Xianning, leaving 11 people dead and one person missing.

Many residential areas in the province suffered severe damage due to the volatile weather conditions. Wind speeds in some areas reached level 13, while other areas experienced tornadoes. The severe weather led to the collapse of 22 homes and caused damage to 4,855 others, in addition to injuring 331 people. Dozens of residents were evacuated to safe locations after their areas were affected.

Local officials indicated that the province has launched all-out rescue and relief efforts and is working to prevent secondary disasters. Chinese authorities had announced on Sunday that three people were killed due to heavy rainfall in the city of Fushun in Liaoning Province in northeastern China, where 3,596 residents were evacuated to safer areas.
