Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed in a phone call on Sunday with his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billstrom, the persistent attacks on the Holy Qur’an.
Fidan stressed that it is unacceptable to continue these despicable acts under the guise of freedom of expression, Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The Turkish minister said he looks forward to seeing concrete steps from the Swedish government to prevent these attacks.
During the phone call, the two ministers discussed the track of Sweden’s NATO bid.
The phone call comes on the eve of an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the persistent attacks on the Holy Qur’an in Sweden and Denmark.
