Amman – The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) of Jordan has signed a general class telecommunications license with Starlink Jordan, paving the way for satellite internet services in the country.
According to Jordan News Agency, this agreement adheres to the Telecommunications Law, enabling Starlink to begin its operations within the Kingdom. Starlink, a SpaceX venture, is now officially recognized as an operator in Jordan's local telecommunications market. TRC Chairman, Bassam Sarhan, announced that Starlink's satellite services are expected to be commercially available in Jordan next year. This development is significant for the communications sector in Jordan, positioning the country as one of the early adopters of such technology in the region. The services promise high-speed internet with download speeds ranging from 100 to 200 MB, targeting not only urban areas but also remote locations, mining sites, and tourist spots. The launch of Starlink's satellite services is seen as a major boost to the diversity and reach of communication services across Jordan.
