SJC President: Referendum is Important National Event, Promotes Values of Citizenship and Participation.


Doha: HE President of the Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) and President of the Court of Cassation, Dr. Hassan bin Lahdan Al Hassan Al Mohannadi, applauded HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s efforts to engage Qatari citizens in decision-making on constitutional amendments, based on the Shura principle in Islam. His Highness is keen to uphold justice and consultation, consolidate the rule of law, and promote equal citizenship in rights and duties.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Dr. Hassan bin Lahdan Al Hassan Al Mohannadi also praised HH the Amir’s call for all citizens aged 18 and over to participate in a general referendum on the constitutional amendments on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024. This decree reflects a commitment to strengthening solidarity between the Qatari people and their leader, emphasizing the importance of national unity, social cohesion, and steadfastness in upholding cherished values and enduring national principles.

His Excellency highlighted the Qatari people’s history of rising t
o the occasion, demonstrating high patriotism and loyalty to their wise leadership in various situations the country has faced.

His Excellency also praised the Ministry of Interior and the General Referendum Committee for providing facilities that enable citizens to cast their votes freely and easily. This includes the use of committees throughout the country and the Metrash 2 application, which ensures citizen participation both inside and outside the country.
