Saudi Energy Minister Highlights Importance of Energy Security Amid Regional Developments

Riyadh:Recent regional developments have highlighted the importance of energy security, according to Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. These events have put pressure on supply routes and targeted infrastructure, underscoring the need for resilient energy systems.

According to Qatar News Agency, Prince Abdulaziz emphasized that energy system resilience involves not only spare production capacity and infrastructure but also the ability to maintain, repair, reroute supplies, and find alternatives under pressure. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's demonstrated ability to recover and support global energy supply reliability.

The minister also noted the essential link between energy security and energy transition, asserting that energy must be secure for all to be accessible to all. This sentiment was echoed by WPC Energy President Pedro Miras, who emphasized the role of investment, artificial intelligence, digitization, and new technologies in the energy transition.

Miras highlighted the importance of international cooperation in achieving energy security and sustainable development, calling for collective action to ensure a secure future. He pointed out the rapid development of technologies to enhance global energy security and economic stability.

The 25th WPC Energy Congress, hosted by Saudi Arabia, includes discussions on supply security, investment, technology, and sustainability. The event also marks the beginning of technical meetings for the 17th Clean Energy Ministerial and the 11th Mission Innovation Ministerial, part of Riyadh Energy Week.
