Amman:Jordan's inflation rate increased by 2.26 percent in the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, with the annual inflation rate in September rising by 2.73 percent year-on-year.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Jordanian Department of Statistics reported on Monday that the inflation rate for September rose by 0.16 percent compared to August. Overall, inflation has remained within moderate ranges throughout the year.

The rise in inflation for the first nine months was largely attributed to higher prices in several categories. The Rents category contributed approximately 0.72 percentage points to the inflation rate increase, followed by Transport at 0.66 percentage points, Oils and Fats at 0.27 percentage points, and Tobacco and Cigarettes at 0.17 percentage points.

In September, the year-on-year increase in prices was mainly driven by the Transport group, contributing 1.13 percentage points, followed by Rents at 0.76 percentage points and Oils and Fats at 0.29 percentage points.

Jordan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) is calculated using a basket of 850 items, which includes 325 food items and 525 non-food items. This basket is based on a survey conducted across 3,400 establishments to collect prices of goods and services.
