S. Korea Launches Research Exploration Vessel

South Korea launched the new research exploration vessel Tam Hae 3, which will sail the seas around the world to explore undersea energy resources.

The research vessel Tam Hae 3 is the first local vessel weighing 6,000 tons and is equipped with 35 of the latest exploration and research equipment.

The new vessel that will replace the research vessel Tam Hae 2, which has started its research activities since 1996, is expected to expand the sub-sea resource development area to the continental shelf as well as the polar regions, securing oil, gas and mineral resources both locally and externally.

The new ship can conduct geophysical exploration with 3D technology, as well as explore changes in Earth's layers over time with 4D technology.
