Inter Milan Moves Closer to Serie A Title Despite Draw With Torino

Milan: Inter Milan continued its strong push to reclaim the Serie A title despite a 2-2 draw away to Torino FC on Sunday, in the final match of the league's 34th round. Inter took a two-goal lead through the French forward Marcus Thuram and the German defender Yann Bisseck in the 23rd and 61st minutes, both assisted by Italy international left back Federico Dimarco. However, the hosts rallied in the final 20 minutes, scoring twice through the Argentine Giovanni Simeone and the Croatian Nikola Vlasic, the latter converting a penalty in the 79th minute. According to Qatar News Agency, the draw lifted Inter to 79 points, 10 ahead of its closest rival, Napoli, the defending champion, which defeated Cremonese 4-0 on Friday in the round's opener. Inter can secure the title at home next Sunday when it hosts Parma. Napoli, meanwhile, faces a difficult test on Saturday away to Como, currently fifth and pushing for a place in next season's UEFA Champions League. With the result, Inter, which reached the final of the Coppa Italia after defeating Como 3-2 on Tuesday in the second leg of the semifinals, fell short of a fifth consecutive win in all competitions and a fourth straight league victory. Torino, meanwhile, moved to 41 points, sitting 13th with eight draws, 11 wins and 15 losses. The club is now mathematically safe from relegation, holding a 13-point cushion above the drop zone with four rounds remaining. In another match, AC Milan and Juventus FC played out a scoreless draw at San Siro in Milan. Both sides missed several chances and settled for a point each. Milan moved to 67 points in third place, edging closer to securing a Champions League spot, while Juventus reached 64 points in fourth, the final qualifying position for Europe's premier club competition. In a third match, Como boosted its hopes of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in its history with a 2-0 win away to Genoa CFC. The goals were scored by the Greek Anastasios Douvikas and the Senegalese Assane Diao in the 10th and 68th mi nutes. The victory ended a three-match winless run for Como and marked its 17th league win this season, lifting it back into fifth place with 61 points, level on points but ahead on goal difference of AS Roma, which beat Bologna FC 2-0 on Saturday. Como now trails Juventus by three points and Milan by six. Genoa remains on 39 points in 14th place after its 15th loss of the season and its first defeat following two consecutive wins. Elsewhere, Fiorentina and Sassuolo drew 0-0. Fiorentina moved to 37 points in 15th place, while Sassuolo has 46 points in 12th. The round concludes on Monday with matches between Cagliari and Atalanta, and Lazio and Udinese.
