Russia, Ukraine Trade Claims of Downing Drones

Moscow: Russia and Ukraine on Sunday issued statements saying they had intercepted and destroyed dozens of drones overnight, as the war between the two countries continues into its third year, having begun on Feb. 24, 2022.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its air-defense systems had destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory during the night.

Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 98 drones in an overnight attack, and Ukrainian defenses shot down 69 of them. Both sides continue to exchange strikes, including increasing use of drones, as the conflict grinds on. Hopes for ending the war now hinge on the viability of a US proposal currently under discussion.
