Doha: Russia on Monday described its conflict with Ukraine an existential issue, affecting its national interest, security, and future. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a press conference that his country would respond to the attacks launched by Kyiv's forces these days.

According to Qatar News Agency, Peskov explained that the powerful attack launched by his country's forces on Ukrainian territory last night, which resulted in the deaths of at least four people, falls within the response to Kyiv's recent attacks.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement it targeted Ukrainian military positions in response to what is called Kyiv's terrorist acts. Following this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media that Russia must be held accountable for bombing cities and villages, destroying lives.

He added that now is the time for the US, Europe, and the world to stop this war by pressuring Russia.
