Doha: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) believes that the strength and unity of Asian football depend upon open consultation, mutual respect, and sound institutional governance, stressed QFA President, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency highlighted in a press statement published on QFA's website that recent correspondence with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) raises an important question concerning the processes through which positions are taken in the collective name of AFC Member Associations. His Excellency emphasized that this is not a question of personalities, nor of individual associations' agreement or disagreement with any particular position's substance. It is about ensuring that the voices of Member Associations are appropriately heard when Asian football speaks collectively. He further stressed that QFA raises these concerns in a constructive and brotherly spirit, with respect for the AFC and its leadership, and in the shared interest o f strengthening the governance, unity, and credibility of Asian football.
