Qatar’s Foreign Minister Makes A Short Visit To Afghanistan

Baghdad The Qatari Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, on Sunday made a short visit to Kabul, which is the highest diplomatic level for Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return to power.

Al-Thani met with the head of the Taliban government and a number of Afghan officials, according to the Qatar News Agency.

In recent years, Qatar has played a key diplomatic role in the Afghanistan file, and has hosted negotiating sessions between the Taliban and the United States during the era of former President Donald Trump, and later with the government of President Ashraf Ghani, who was overthrown by the Taliban on August 15.
