Qatar’s Foreign Minister Highlights Critical International Conference Amid Ongoing Conflict

Doha: The international conference focused on a peaceful settlement for the Palestinian issue is taking place at a crucial time, as Israel continues its military operations in Gaza, which have persisted for two years. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, who serves as both the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs for Qatar, emphasized the significance of this gathering in addressing the dire humanitarian situation affecting over two million people in Gaza, primarily women and children.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Sheikh Mohammed delivered a statement on behalf of Qatar at the plenary session of the conference. He stressed that the event tackles one of the longest-standing issues of peace and security, which remains one of the last remnants of colonial injustice on the international stage. He also extended gratitude to Saudi Arabia for chairing the meeting in collaboration with France.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the successful mediation efforts led by Qatar, in cooperation with Egypt and the United States, which have resulted in substantial humanitarian aid being delivered and the release of hundreds of prisoners and detainees from both sides of the conflict.
