Baku:Qatari editorials have highlighted the country's efforts in strengthening cooperation within Asia and advancing food self-sufficiency. His Highness the Amir of Qatar welcomed the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, expressing hopes for outcomes that would enhance the continent's security and prosperity. The summit also provided an opportunity for discussions with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, focusing on developing friendly and cooperative relations.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan newspaper emphasized Qatar's commitment to peace and stability in Asia through dialogue and cooperation. The editorial pointed out the importance of the conference as a mechanism for fostering mutual trust and contributing to security and development in the region. Al-Arab newspaper echoed these sentiments, underscoring Qatar's desire to expand cooperation with Asian nations, particularly given Asia's growing significance on the global stage.
In addition to regional cooperation, Qatar is making strides in food security. The Peninsula newspaper reported on Qatar's initiatives to boost agricultural productivity by 30 percent with the development of 96 hectares of sustainable greenhouses. This effort is part of Qatar's broader strategy to achieve food self-sufficiency, with significant progress already made in fresh poultry, milk, dairy products, fish, and essential vegetables.
As Qatar continues its journey towards greater food self-sufficiency, the focus remains on innovation and sustainable practices to ensure food availability and protect environmental resources for future generations.
