Qatari Media Outlets Highlight Efforts to Address Regional Conflicts and Human Rights Initiatives.

Doha: Qatari newspapers have emphasized the importance of regional cooperation to address current conflicts and human rights issues. In an editorial titled "Qatar Supports Efforts to End the Aggression," the Qatari daily Al-Raya called for coordinated Arab-Islamic efforts to achieve an immediate halt to aggression, facilitate humanitarian aid, and secure an agreement for the exchange of prisoners and detainees. This agreement aims to ensure the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories amidst escalating tensions in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Lebanon. According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya underscored the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh. The summit, attended by various heads of state and delegations, focused on strategies to cease the ongoing Israeli aggression and deliver humanitarian aid to affected civilians. Al-Raya reiterated Qatar's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their cause, as well as backing all Arab, Islamic, and international efforts to end the Israeli actions in Palestine and Lebanon. In other local news, English-language newspaper The Peninsula reported on the launch of the 2024-2030 Strategic Plan by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC). The plan, unveiled in a ceremony in Doha, includes a range of programs designed to safeguard human rights. The Peninsula highlighted the strategic plan's potential to mobilize, attract, and coordinate roles within the NHRC, enhancing its effectiveness in executing its programs and achieving its objectives. The Peninsula also noted that the NHRC's plan will improve interactions with domestic and international stakeholders, including civil society organizations and governmental institutions. The NHRC has gained recognition as an influential model for national human rights institutions due to its achievements and adherence to principles of independence and transparency. Additionally, The Peninsula reported on the NHR C hosting the inaugural dialogue "Business and Human Rights in Arab Region," focusing on responsible business practices. Last month, the NHRC also organized a conference in collaboration with The European Ombudsman Institute on protecting vulnerable groups during war and migration, The Peninsula concluded.
