Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in the 166th session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, convened at the League's General Secretariat in Cairo. This session serves as a precursor to the ministerial-level meeting scheduled for Monday.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani, led the Qatari delegation. The session's agenda covered a spectrum of political and socioeconomic issues, most notably the Palestinian cause and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Discussions also focused on developments and Israeli violations in occupied Jerusalem, support for Palestine's budget, and the resilience of its people. Furthermore, the council condemned Iran's unlawful attacks on Arab nations and reaffirmed Iran's obligations under international law.

The session also addressed the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen, condemning Iranian violations of Yemen's sovereignty and airspace integrity. The security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arabian Gulf region was another critical issue, alongside evolving situations in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, and the Union of the Comoros.

Additionally, the council reviewed two reports from the League's Secretary-General on the activities of the General Secretariat and the implementation of the League Council's decisions between sessions 164 and 165. The draft agenda for the 35th ordinary session of the Council at the summit level was also discussed.
