Doha: The State of Qatar has issued a strong condemnation against the renewed attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran on its own territory, as well as on the territories of several other Middle Eastern nations including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait. Qatar has labeled these attacks as clear violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity, in breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and principles of good neighborliness.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on Sunday emphasizing that the continuation of such attacks represents a dangerous escalation, complicating efforts to de-escalate tensions and undermining political and diplomatic endeavors aimed at regional security and stability. Qatar has held Iran fully and legally responsible for the attacks and their consequences.
The Ministry further asserted that Qatar reserves the right to respond under international law and Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The statement highlighted that Qatar is committed to taking all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and citizens. Qatar also expressed solidarity with the affected nations, supporting all legitimate actions they undertake to safeguard their sovereignty and security.
Additionally, the Ministry called for an immediate halt to all military actions and attacks that pose a threat to the region's security and stability. It urged for the cessation of actions that could escalate tensions and advocated for a serious return to dialogue and negotiations, emphasizing adherence to diplomatic understandings previously reached.
