Qatar Chamber and Chile Explore Enhanced Trade Cooperation

Doha: Acting General Manager of the Qatar Chamber, Ali Bu Sharbak Al Mansori, recently met with Karla Flores, Director of InvestChile, to discuss the enhancement of trade and economic relations between Qatar and Chile. The meeting aimed to explore areas of cooperation between the Qatar Chamber and InvestChile, including the coordination of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two chambers to strengthen ties between the business communities of both countries and to enhance the role of the private sectors in supporting bilateral cooperation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Acting General Manager praised the strong relations between Qatar and Chile, particularly in commerce and the economy. However, he noted that the current trade exchange volume remains below expectations. Al Mansori emphasized the Qatar Chamber's commitment to improving trade relations with Chile and expanding partnerships between Qatari and Chilean companies.

In response, the Director of InvestChile expressed that Chilean business owners are eager to enhance cooperation and establish business alliances with their Qatari counterparts in various sectors, including mining, industry, renewable energy, and infrastructure. Flores encouraged Qatari private sector companies to explore investment opportunities in Chile.

Flores' visit was part of an initiative to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Qatar Chamber. She proposed organizing joint business events and meetings, suggesting the possibility of a Qatari-Chilean business forum in Doha next year. She also highlighted that InvestChile has recently opened a regional office in Riyadh, which will cover Qatar and the UAE, to further facilitate these cooperative efforts.
