Qatar Basketball Team Begins Intensive Training Camp in Turkiye for Upcoming Competitions

Doha: The Qatar national basketball team has commenced a training camp in Turkiye to gear up for the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan. The camp is led by Turkish coach Hakan Demir and includes rigorous daily sessions aimed at enhancing physical and technical skills, as well as fostering tactical development and team unity in anticipation of the upcoming competitions.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar secured the second position in Group D of the first qualifying round with a total of 10 points. The team is set to begin the second round against China in Doha on August 27, followed by an away game against Japan on August 30. Despite already securing a spot in the 2027 World Cup as the host nation, these qualifiers offer Qatar valuable experience competing against some of Asia's strongest basketball teams ahead of the tournament.

Additionally, Qatar has been placed in Group B for the Asian Games, competing against Iran, Jordan, and Chinese Taipei. The team is scheduled to play Iran on September 10, Jordan on September 12, and Chinese Taipei on September 13.
