Qatar-Azerbaijan Joint Business Council Inaugural Meeting Enhances Trade and Investment Ties

Qatar: Qatar Chamber hosted on Monday the first meeting of the Qatar-Azerbaijan Joint Business Council with notable attendees including HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed; HE Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamaladdin Heydarov; and Second Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari. The council meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Mohammed bin Jawhar Al Mohammed, representing the Qatari side, and Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), representing the Azerbaijani side, alongside members from both countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on the cooperation opportunities between the Qatari and Azerbaijani business sectors across various fields, examining the investment climate and available opportunities for companies in both nations. Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari highlighted that the council underscores the commitment of both sides to strengthen economic ties and broaden cooperation in commercial and investment sectors. He emphasized that relations between Qatar and Azerbaijan have significantly developed in recent years.

Al Kuwari further explained that the Joint Council serves not just as a platform for dialogue, but as a crucial connection for the business communities of both countries. This enables companies to share experiences, explore opportunities, and build strategic partnerships that would benefit the private sector and foster joint economic growth. He expressed confidence that the Council would ease the flow of mutual investments, enhance bilateral trade, and create a more attractive environment for investors, especially in high-potential sectors such as agriculture, energy, logistics, tourism, technology, and food industries.

HE Kamaladdin Heydarov stated that the inaugural meeting of the Joint Business Council marks a significant step in strengthening the friendship and trust between Qatar and Azerbaijan, which will benefit the business community, particularly the private sector. He noted that discussions are ongoing to improve trade relations through the Joint Economic, Trade, and Technical Committee, expressing his belief that the Qatar-Azerbaijan Business Council will be pivotal in boosting trade relations between the private sectors of both countries.
