Qatar and Uruguay Commit to Enhance International Mediation Cooperation

Montevideo:The State of Qatar and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay have signed a letter of intent to enhance their cooperation in international mediation. This agreement aims to bolster coordination between the two nations in resolving conflicts peacefully.

According to Qatar News Agency, the signing took place in Montevideo after a meeting between Qatar's Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, and Uruguay's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Lubetkin. The discussions included strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Dr. Al Khulaifi emphasized the significance of mediation in resolving international disputes and fostering sustainable peace, development, and prosperity. He noted that the letter of intent marks a crucial step towards closer cooperation between Qatar and Uruguay, facilitating the exchange of expertise and support for dialogue and peaceful conflict-resolution efforts.

The Qatari official also underscored the importance of supporting international initiatives to enhance security and stability in Latin America. The meeting was attended by Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development. This agreement further extends Qatar's diplomatic efforts in mediation, an area where Doha has been actively facilitating dialogue in various international and regional conflicts.
