Jerusalem:Nearly 28,000 settlers made incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque during the third quarter of 2026, according to the Jerusalem Governorate. This period also saw the killing of six Palestinians, 139 demolition and land-leveling operations, 357 arrests, and 73 expulsion orders, primarily banning individuals from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to Qatar News Agency, the recent report highlights an escalation in Israeli violations in Jerusalem and surrounding areas. These violations include assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as arrest and expulsion campaigns, demolition of homes and facilities, land leveling, and property seizures. Additionally, there have been increased restrictions on the movement of Jerusalemites and targeting of Bedouin communities, alongside the continuation of settlement projects.
The report also notes that the increase in settlers storming the mosque was accompanied by an expansion in religious practices and rituals. These included collective prayers attended by ministers, Knesset members, rabbis, and leaders of 'Temple' groups, all under the protection of occupation police.
Furthermore, the Governorate documented heightened targeting of religious, educational, national, and international institutions and landmarks. There were also restrictions on freedom of worship and journalistic work, alongside targeting institutions affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Demolition and land-leveling operations were also significant during this quarter, with 139 such incidents documented. These included 35 forced self-demolitions, where Palestinians were compelled to demolish their own homes or structures, and 96 demolitions conducted directly by occupation machinery, along with eight land-leveling operations targeting Palestinian lands, structures, and facilities.
