Planning ministry issues report on progress achieved in digitization projects until March

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has released a report to highlight the achievements realized so far in developing the government services and information infrastructure (digitization).

Planning Minister Hala el-Said said that establishing a spatial information infrastructure is a key tool for conducting comprehensive planning and preparing sustainable development strategies.

On that score, the minister explained that her ministry adopted a plan for upgrading the Egyptian planning system and establishing a comprehensive national project to ensure the integration of the spatial information infrastructure to help improve the efficiency of the decisions related to investment development and upgrade information infrastructure at various State’s sectors.

A total of 376 technological centers have been developed across neighborhoods and cities until March to offer 289 services nationwide, according to Said.

She said that 22 technology centers, providing 144 services in the new urban cities were also developed during the same period.

Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation Ashraf Abdel Hafeez said that a total of 127 mobile technology center vehicles have been operated until March.

The report also indicated that the operational capacity of 2,401 registration offices for births and deaths has been boosted until March.

The fruitful outcome of the national spatial information infrastructure and the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) was also highlighted in the report.
