NATO Values King Abdullah’s Insights on Middle East Issues

Brussels – In Brussels, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg praised the insights of His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan, describing them as “highly valuable” for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). According to a statement made during a NATO conference, Stoltenberg responded to an inquiry from the Jordan News Agency’s reporter about the upcoming discussion on the Israeli war on Gaza at the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting on Tuesday.

Stoltenberg highlighted that King Abdullah briefed NATO member states on the latest developments in the Middle East, including the Israeli war on Gaza. He emphasized Jordan’s role as a close and highly valued partner of NATO and acknowledged the importance of consultation with regional partners in the alliance’s strategy.

On the topic of the Israeli war in Gaza, the NATO Secretary-General welcomed the truce in the region, which aims to release detainees and deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza. Stoltenberg called for an extension of the ceasefire, underscoring the urgent need for relief for the residents of Gaza.

Stoltenberg clarified that NATO does not play an active role in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. However, he noted that the alliance is involved in training missions in Iraq to combat Daesh and maintains close cooperation with Jordan, indicating NATO’s broader engagement in regional stability and security.
