Jordanian Cabinet Approves New Regulations and Appointments in Recent Session

Amman, Jordan: In a recent Cabinet session chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, several key decisions were made, including the approval of draft bylaws and strategic appointments.

According to Jordan News Agency, The Cabinet agreed upon the mandating reasons for the draft Administrative Organization Bylaw for the General Secretariat of the Lower House of Representatives for 2023. This decision, intended for submission to the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion, aims to streamline the functions of the House’s organizational units to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Further, the Council of Ministers approved the validating reasons for the draft Private Offices Bylaw for Jordanians Recruitment inside and outside the Kingdom for 2023. Following the issuance of the amended Labor Law No. (10) of 2023, this regulation is designed to empower the Ministry of Labor to fulfill its responsibilities effectively. The Bylaw aligns with the Ministry’s roles in regulating the labor market and managing private recruitment offices in Jordan.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the implementation of a project to supply Al-Quwayrah Industrial City with natural gas from Egypt Gas Company. This decision stipulates that the Egyptian firm must be registered with the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) and obtain approval from the Jordan Construction Contractors Association (JCCA) to execute the project. The implementation also involves a compulsory recruitment system for Jordanian workers from various governorates in the Kingdom’s construction projects.

In terms of appointments, the Council of Ministers decided to name Dr. Zaid Ibrahim Kilani as Secretary-General of the General Iftaa` Department (GID). Furthermore, Omar Mustafa Dabbas was appointed as Director General of the Jordan Maritime Commission (JMC), marking significant leadership changes in these key positions.

These decisions reflect the Jordanian government’s ongoing efforts to refine its administrative processes, enhance its labor market, and strategically position its leadership in various departments.
