Muscat Stock Exchange Total Market Capitalization Crosses OR 28 Billion

Muscat: The market capitalization of the Muscat Stock Exchange rose last week to OR 28 billion, recording weekly gains of OR 79.3 million, supported by the strong performance of several stocks that closed higher.

According to Qatar News Agency, these gains helped the main index of the Muscat Stock Exchange maintain the upward trend it had recorded over the past five weeks, closing the week trading at 4,578 points, up by 17 points.

The Services Sector Index increased by 5 points, while the Industrial Sector Index declined by 17 points. The Financial Sector Index dropped by 10 points, and the Sharia-compliant Index saw a slight decline of less than one point.

The average daily trading volume rose last week to 11 million Omani riyals, compared to 10 million riyals the previous week. The average daily number of executed transactions also increased from 1,787 to 2,149.

Trading last week was limited to four days due to the Eid Al-Adha holiday starting on Thursday. The Muscat Stock Exchange will resume trading next Tuesday.

Last week saw a positive performance in the stock market, with share prices of 34 companies rising, while 30 companies saw their shares decline, and 17 companies remained unchanged.
