MOPH Announces Updates to COVID-19 Travel and Return Policy as of 6 October

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced a set of updates to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Travel and Return Policy that will come into effect from Wednesday, 6 October 2021, starting from 02:00 PM at arrival time in the State of Qatar.

MOPH explained that the Travel and Return Policy has been an inseparable part of the State of Qatar’s strategy against COVID-19 and enforcing a strict policy has played a significant role in maintaining consistently low rates of COVID-19 infections in the State over the past months.

The set of updates are as below:

  • Replacing the current classification of countries with two lists, Green and Red, in addition to a secondary list of Exceptional Red Countries based on international and local health risk indicators.
  • All travelers must sign an Undertaking and Acknowledgment Form prior to arrival to the State of Qatar. The form is available on the official MOPH website and online registration platform (Ehteraz website).
  • Pre-travel PCR test is no longer mandatory for fully vaccinated Qatari citizens and residents who are traveling from Green List countries; instead, they will be required to do the PCR test within 36 hours of arrival to the State of Qatar.
  • The conditionally approved vaccine list has been updated to include Sinovac and Sputnik (V) COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Visitors are now able to activate the Ehteraz mobile application using an international SIM card, without the need to have a local SIM card.
  • Non-residents of Qatar must register via the abovementioned online registration platform (EHTERAZ website) at least 3 days before arrival.
