Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs Engages with Global Economic Leaders in Geneva

Geneva: The Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayed met with the heads of a number of international organizations, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, along with various economic and trade issues of common interest.

According to Qatar News Agency, a statement issued by the MOCI indicated that His Excellency began his meetings with HE Acting Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Pedro Manuel Moreno. The discussions focused on preparations for the State of Qatar's hosting of the World Investment Forum, scheduled to take place in Doha from October 25-27, 2026, as well as developments in the global economy and various topics related to trade, investment, and development.

His Excellency also met with HE Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The meeting covered the latest developments in international trade, challenges facing the multilateral trading system, and the importance of promoting trade flow while supporting ongoing reforms in the WTO. Additionally, they discussed the robustness of Qatar's economy under current circumstances and its capacity to grow and enhance its stature as a reliable trade and investment partner both regionally and internationally.

Further, His Excellency met with HE Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang to explore ways to enhance cooperation and exchanged views on topics of mutual interest.

HE the Minister also participated in WIPO's high-level ministerial dialogue, where he highlighted Qatar's efforts to develop an integrated intellectual property system under the framework of its National Vision 2030. This system is aimed at enhancing foreign trade, fostering a knowledge-based economy, and supporting innovation and international cooperation.
