Jordan’s stationery and paper sector boasts extensive production capacities, characterized by a remarkable superiority in quality compared to imported alternatives, representative of the packaging, paper, cardboard, printing, and office supplies industry at the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) Mohammad Safadi affirmed. Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Monday, Safadi highlighted the significant surge in the demand for locally produced stationery and paper products, which aligns with the imminent return of approximately two million students to school in the upcoming academic year. Emphasizing the competitive prices and superior quality of stationery and office school supplies in the local market, he underscored Jordan’s substantial production capacities in this sector, noting that the Kingdom annually fulfills more than half of the local market’s demand for these products. Furthermore, he indicated that a significant portion of the production is exported abroad each year, amounting to around JD21 million, adding that this serves as a compelling testament to the industry’s items’ effectiveness and superior quality, enabling them to compete successfully in both domestic and international markets. Safadi highlighted that there are more than 121 specialized establishments engaged in the manufacturing of paper, cardboard, and school stationery in Jordan, encompassing three factories for school notebooks and a fountain pen factory. Collectively, these establishments provide employment opportunities for over 5,000 workers. Additionally, he pointed out that Jordan’s annual production of office supplies, paper, cardboard, and books averages around JD50 million.
