Japan’s Nikkei Index Falls, Weighed Down by Tech Stocks

Japan: Japan's share gauge fell sharply on Monday, dragged down by technology stocks after leaders of major AI companies called for a slowdown in development. The benchmark Nikkei 225 slid 0.81% to close at 63,492.99, while the broader Topix gained 0.74% to 4,058.21.

According to Qatar News Agency, the biggest losers were SoftBank Group, down 10.72%, followed by Resonac Holdings, down 5.98%, and Kioxia Holdings, down 6.37%. In contrast, the index's largest percentage gainers were Fujitsu, up 7.39%, followed by NEC, up 6.26%, and Recruit Holdings, which gained 6.35%.
