Human Rights Monitor Warns of Imminent Humanitarian Disaster in Gaza

Gaza: The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor warned of an imminent humanitarian disaster with the continued blockade of the Gaza Strip, urging all countries and relevant parties to take urgent action to stop the crime of genocide in the Strip, and to take all necessary measures to force the occupation to lift the blockade completely and immediately.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement on Tuesday, the monitor indicated that goods have begun to run out in the markets, and several relief centers have stopped working, in light of the continued closure of the Gaza Strip crossings and the prevention of the entry of supplies since March 2, which exacerbates the suffering of civilians and threatens famine in the Gaza Strip.

The monitor pointed out that famine is not the only danger that should mobilize the international community, as depriving the population, especially children, of adequate nutrition leads to severe malnutrition, which causes irreversible health damage and causes permanent physical and mental disabilities.

The monitor said that its field team documented the continued commission of murders by the Israeli occupation army, whether by sniper fire, quadcopter aircraft, or drone attacks, during the ceasefire that went into effect last January.

It indicated that 145 Palestinians, at a rate of 7 people every two days, have been martyred since the ceasefire last January, while the siege and starvation are being used as slow killing tools within the crime of genocide in the Strip. It also noted that the city of Rafah was the most exposed to Israeli targeting, in addition to the repeated targeting of the Shuja’iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City, and the town of Beit Hanoun north of the Strip.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor urged the International Criminal Court to expedite its investigations and issue arrest warrants against Israeli officials involved in crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, reminding member states of the Rome Statute of their legal obligations to fully cooperate with the court.
