Shanghai: The Chinese technology company, Huawei, on Saturday unveiled an open-source artificial intelligence technology, dubbed Flex:AI, designed to significantly enhance the utilization of computing resources.
According to Qatar News Agency, the framework divides a single AI chip into multiple virtual units with a precision of up to 10 percent. This capability allows a single card to perform multiple tasks - achieved through flexible resource isolation - which can increase average computing utilization by 30 percent.
"By making Flex:AI open-source, we aim to grant global access to the full suite of its core technologies," said Zhou Yuefeng, a vice president at the company, during a forum held in the municipality of Shanghai in eastern China.
He added: "The rapid expansion of the AI industry is driving enormous demand for computing power, but the low utilization rates of these resources have become a major obstacle, with significant waste hindering progress."
