Football: Al Wakrah Renews Fathy’s Contract to 2029

Doha: Al Wakrah announced that it has extended the contract of Egyptian international midfielder Hamdy Fathy, who will continue playing for the club.

According to Qatar News Agency, the club confirmed in a brief statement today that Fathy's contract has been extended until 2029. Fathy's previous contract had been set to expire at the end of the upcoming season.

Since joining Al Wakrah in the 2023-24 season, Fathy has played 73 matches for the club across all competitions, contributing six goals and three assists.

Fathy was absent from Al Wakrah's pre-season training camp due to his commitment with the Egyptian national team at the FIFA World Cup.

Al Wakrah is set to kick off its Qatar league season against Qatar SC on August 20.
