Scores of Jewish extremist settlers on Monday stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque/ al-Haram al-Sharif compound in occupied East Jerusalem, according to an official Palestinian source. A statement by the General Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that the settlers carried out today's raids from al-Magharebah Gate under the heavy protection of Israeli police. The settlers provocatively toured the Mosque's yards and performed Talmudic rituals, it added. This morning, the Israeli police stationed officers in the courtyards and gates of Al-Aqsa to ensure the safety of settlers who were making incursions. They also restricted the entry of worshippers into Al-Aqsa, and detained several people at its external gates.
