DR Congo Reports Significant Ebola Outbreak with 1,873 Cases and 672 Deaths

Kinshasa: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reported a total of 1,873 confirmed Ebola cases across the country, resulting in 672 deaths.

According to Qatar News Agency, the affected provinces include Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uele, and Chubu. Notably, Haut-Uele and Chubu have been included in the national report for the first time, indicating the spread of the virus to new regions.

The report also highlights that 763 patients are currently in isolation or receiving hospital treatment, with the facilities experiencing a bed occupancy rate of 95.1 percent. The DRC declared its seventeenth Ebola outbreak on May 15, leading the World Health Organization (WHO) to issue an international health alert to address the escalating situation.
