Cabinet Condemns Iranian Attacks and Approves New Policies

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting on Wednesday at the Amiri Diwan. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi issued several key statements.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet began by condemning the Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, describing them as violations of sovereignty, breaches of international law, and threats to regional security and stability. The Cabinet expressed Qatar's solidarity with the affected nations and support for measures to protect their sovereignty. Additionally, the importance of reducing tensions and restoring regional and international stability was emphasized.

During the session, the Cabinet acknowledged the Shura Council's approval of a draft law on metrology, which aims to modernize the regulatory framework, enhance consumer protection, and ensure fair competition by updating the existing Law No. (21) of 1972.

The Cabinet also endorsed the General Policy and Strategy for National Local Content, designed to boost national content in government procurement and promote sustainable local value. This initiative, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, aims to foster private-sector growth, support local industries, and attract international investment.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU): one between the Ministry of Justice in Qatar and the Department of Justice in Hong Kong, and another between the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority and Kazakhstan's Agency for Financial Market Regulation and Development.

Lastly, the Cabinet reviewed a presentation by HE the Minister of Municipality on utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance decision-making and planning. The initiative aims to improve the use of comprehensive geospatial data for government entities, the private sector, and the community.
