Cabinet Approves Additional Measures Easing Coronavirus Restrictions as of 18 June

The Cabinet, chaired by HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, decided the following during the regular meeting held yesterday via videoconferencing, and after reviewing the report of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management on the plan of the gradual lifting of the restrictions imposed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic:

  • A maximum of 80 percent of the total number of employees in the government sector in each business entity to work from the office, with the rest working remotely or upon request depending on the circumstances. The exception are to the military, security and health sectors.
  • A maximum of 80 percent of the total number of employees in the private sector in each business entity to work from the office, with the rest working remotely. And, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will coordinate with the relevant entities on determining necessary activities exempted from this decision.
  • All employees in the government and private sectors must carry out a rapid antigen test that is accredited by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) on a weekly basis. This applies to employees who did not receive or continue all the doses of their COVID-19 vaccines. Those who did take both doses, recovered from the disease, or those whose health condition does not allow based on a medical report accredited by MOPH, are exempted from taking the rapid antigen test.
  • These decisions shall come into force as of Friday, 18 June 2021 and until further notice.
