Doha:Bosnia and Herzegovina: More than 3.4 million voters are heading to the polls in a crucial election impacting the country's bid to join the European Union and the balance of Western and Russian influence in the Balkan region.

According to Qatar News Agency, voters are electing members of Bosnia and Herzegovina's three-member Presidency and national parliament. They are also selecting representatives for the legislative bodies of its two constituent entities and cantonal assemblies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The election outcome could influence the formation of future governing coalitions and the direction of the country's foreign policy. The Central Election Commission is expected to release preliminary results later on Sunday after polling stations close at 7 p.m. local time.
