Bahraini women’s rights strides highlighted

Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari highlighted Bahrain’s strides in promoting human rights for all citizens.

She said that the council, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, is keen on implementing the royal vision aimed to empower Bahraini women and ensure all their rights to assume an equal national development role.

Al Ansari made the statement during a meeting with National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) Chairman Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Vice Chairman Khalid Abdulaziz Al Shaer and Head of Rights and Public Liberties Committee Dr Fawzia Al Saleh.

She stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination, which contributes to the development of human rights work, citing Bahrain’s periodic  reports about the status reality of Bahraini women in national development and public life, in addition to studying the impact of legislation, policies and programmes in support of gender balance.

“Bahrain has gained an advanced global status in international fora as a direct result of national efforts that seek to contribute to the development of women’s rights internationally”, she said, taking into account  countries’ constitutions, laws, and religious, social and cultural values.

Al Derazi valued the council’s drive, led by HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa to empower Bahraini women and promote their rights, reiterating NIHR keenness on enhancing cooperation to achieve joint goals.
