Jerusalem:Israeli occupation authorities closed Al-Maghariba Gate after 1,500 settlers entered the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the second day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

According to Qatar News Agency, the settlers accessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in successive groups through Al-Maghariba Gate, with heavy protection from occupation police. During this time, they performed Talmudic rituals and prayers near Al-Qattanin Gate, a key entrance to the mosque, and brought "plant offerings" into the courtyards.

The occupation forces compelled several shop owners in Al-Qattanin Market, which leads to Al-Aqsa Mosque, to close their businesses. Meanwhile, settlers continued their Talmudic rituals inside the market under strict movement restrictions imposed on citizens in the Old City. Additionally, prayers were held by settlers outside Al-Hutta Gate, another external gate of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The actions occurred amidst intensified military measures by the occupation authorities around Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City. These measures included restricting the entry and movement of worshipers, as part of efforts to alter the historical and legal status quo, thereby cementing control over the site and enforcing its temporal and spatial division.
