Algeria: Algeria officially secured their place in the Round of 16 with a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso in their second Group E match of the Africa Cup of Nations (Morocco 2025). The only goal of the match was scored by Riyad Mahrez in the 23rd minute from a penalty kick. This was Mahrez's third goal in the current edition of the tournament, making him the top scorer. According to Qatar News Agency, Algeria now have 6 points at the top of the group, guaranteeing their place in the Round of 16 regardless of the result of their final match against Equatorial Guinea. Burkina Faso remains in second place with 3 points. In the same group, Sudan revived their hopes of qualifying with a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea. The lone goal was an own goal scored by Guinean defender Saul Koko in the 74th minute. Sudan earned three points, while Equatorial Guinea remained without any points. Sudan will face Burkina Faso, and Equatorial Guinea will play against Algeria in the third and final round of group matches.
