Speakers at a session organized by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) during the opening of the media center on Monday emphasized the significance of widespread election participation for the advancement of parliamentary and political life.
King Abdullah II Fund for Development Director (KAFD) Mazen Tabbalat pointed out the KAFD’s support for projects that promote partisanship and expand the participation of women and youth in elections.
IEC Board of Commissioners member, Raed Adwan, reviewed the royal and legislative guarantees for party work and youth participation in the political modernization process.
Director of Programs at Politics and Society Institute, Hussein Sarayrah, voiced the institute’s keenness through its various programs to develop the skills and capabilities of young people in order to enhance their participation in the decision-making process.
Representative of the Arab Network for Democratic Elections (ANDE), Raja Al-Jarri, lauded the IEC’s openness and transparency, and highl
ighted ANDE’s foundations and rules, which include a group of Arab non-governmental organizations.
Head of the executive office of the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies (ArabEMBs), Abdelhakim Balkhir, said that the organization participates in attending the parliamentary elections with the aim of exchanging expertise between electoral administrations, stressing confidence in the IEC’s ability to manage distinguished parliamentary elections.
IEC Board of Commissioners member, Jihad Momani, said that all requests related to observing the elections have been approved, as thousands of observers and local, regional, and international observation institutions and bodies participate.
Political Participation Officer at the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), Zaid Attari, underlined the importance of the participation of persons with disabilities in the elections, pointing to the IEC’s procedures to facilitate and ensure access for persons with disabilities to the ballot
boxes.
Executive Director of the Jordanian Persons with Disability Coalition, Abdul Qader Suleiman, commended the IECs approval for the coalition to observe the voting process and record observations on the course of the electoral process, as well as its procedures for providing volunteers (guides) on polling day to assist persons with disabilities, in addition to equipping 95 schools to be used as model centers for persons with disabilities.
