Milan: AC Milan announced on Tuesday the appointment of Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim as head coach of the club's first team on a two-year contract, with an option to extend.
According to Qatar News Agency, the club stated that Amorim's appointment is part of a plan to return Milan to contention at the European level. The team failed to qualify for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League, missing out on a berth following a defeat to Cagliari in its final Serie A match in May.
The statement explained that Amorim will succeed Massimiliano Allegri, who was dismissed from his position. It identified the 41-year-old Portuguese coach as "the right choice" to lead the team, citing his status as one of Europe's most promising managers.
Milan finished fifth in Serie A last season with 70 points and will compete in the UEFA Europa League during the 2026-27 campaign.
