Abdullahian renews his country’s welcome to the return of relations with Saudi Arabia

Baghdad, The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, announced today, Friday, that his country welcomes the return of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia.

Abdallahian confirmed in a press conference with his Lebanese counterpart, Abdullah Bouhabib, during his visit to Beirut: “Iran held several talks with the Saudi side in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, as well as on the sidelines of the “Baghdad 2” summit, explaining that he had a good opportunity to have a short conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan.

The Iranian Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s assertion of the necessity of continuing the talks in order to restore relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

Abdullahian had revealed earlier this month a meeting he had with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on the sidelines of the “Baghdad 2” summit in Jordan.

Abdullahian said, “The Saudi foreign minister assured him of Riyadh’s readiness to continue dialogue with Iran,” noting that he also met on the sidelines of the meeting with the foreign ministers of Oman, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait.
