Doha:The ninth World Investment Forum, organized by the State of Qatar in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), will take place from October 25 to 27, focusing on the theme "Investing in the Future."
According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that the forum will host a diverse group of high-level participants, including ministers, senior government officials, CEOs, business leaders, investors, and representatives from international organizations and investment bodies around the world.
The forum aims to support economic diversification, enhance competitiveness, improve the investment environment, and foster private sector growth in Qatar. It will examine the impact of economic fragmentation and technological advances on capital flows and investment decisions, while exploring ways to maximize the benefits of investment and strengthen its contribution to sustainable development and economic resilience.
Scheduled to feature over 70 high-level sessions and dialogues, the forum will cover seven thematic tracks, addressing sectors such as artificial intelligence, critical minerals, energy, infrastructure, sustainable finance, tourism, and culture. It will also spotlight emerging investment opportunities, including the space economy.
Key events on the forum's agenda include the Global Dialogue on Sustainable Stock Exchanges, the World Investment Promotion Conference, and specialized sessions on investment policies and entrepreneurship. A notable session, "The Future of Investment in the Gulf Region," in collaboration with the Gulf Cooperation Council, will discuss investment opportunities, policies, and regional economic integration.
The forum occurs amid regional developments impacting global trade, such as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz affecting energy flows and shipping operations. These challenges underscore the importance of diversifying supply routes and strengthening international coordination to mitigate the effects on global trade.
This edition marks the forum's return to Qatar 14 years after hosting its third edition in 2012, which was notable for coinciding with the 13th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, a first for an Arab country.
