With More than 1500 Air Movements: With More than 1500 Air Movements: The Qatari Airspace Records a Significant Increase in Operational Processes

The Qatari airspace witnessed a remarkable increase in air traffic and operational processes, as the movement of aircraft in each of Hamad Intl Airport and Doha Intl Airport recorded more than 1,500 air movements, with the kickoff of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

It is also predicted that this period will witness a significant increase in the number of passengers and aircraft movement, in conjunction with the flow of fans and visitors to the State of Qatar to attend this international tournament.

The preparations of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority for the tournament had begun since the very moment that Qatar won the bid to host the World Cup 2022. The past years have witnessed the implementation of significant and comprehensive development plans related to the Qatari airspace, such as increasing the routes of departing and arriving aircraft to and from the State of Qatar, and modernizing all systems and technologies used in air navigation. All measures to ensure the smooth flow of aircraft movement were taken in accordance with highest safety standards, and in line with the operational intensity requirements for the World Cup. This is in addition to the adoption of highly modern and advanced devices in this field. These plans also include increasing the number of air traffic controllers and carrying out major development operations aimed at further developing the work mechanism of the Authority’s cadres and existing competencies, to ensure the provision of highly efficient and distinguished services commensurate with the requirements of this international event to be hosted for the first time in an Arab country- A crucial milestone in the history of the whole region.
