Doha: The Web Summit Permanent Organizing Committee convened in Doha, led by HE Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO) Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani, to assess the ongoing preparations for the third edition of Web Summit Qatar, slated for February 1 to 4.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting is poised to feature an array of global leaders, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs in technology and innovation. A significant point of discussion was the ‘Women in Technology: Pioneers’ program, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. This program is acclaimed as a leading international initiative that empowers women in technology, entrepreneurship, and digital creativity.
The Committee announced the sell-out of tickets for this program, highlighting the high demand for participation. These tickets provide all the benefits of general admission, while also offering exclusive access to meetings, panel discussions, and workshops led by women. The program facilitates professional networking and mentorship with female experts, making it one of the Summit’s most coveted ticket categories.
In his statement, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani emphasized that the ‘Women in Technology: Pioneers’ program is a cornerstone of the Web Summit. It embodies a global commitment to supporting women and enhancing their role in innovation and digital transformation. He expressed pride that Doha will host these efforts, celebrating pioneering women and aligning with Qatar’s dedication to enhancing women’s roles in sustainable development as per Qatar National Vision 2030.
His Excellency further noted that hosting the third edition of the Web Summit reinforces Doha’s reputation as a global center for shaping the digital future. It serves as a gateway for expertise, offering opportunities and celebrating women’s contributions to technology and entrepreneurship.
To commemorate the program’s tenth anniversary, the Organizing Committee announced a special evening event in Doha to honor pioneering women in technology, investment, media, and scientific research. This is part of a series of events held across global cities like London, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, and Dublin, celebrating women leaders in technology and innovation.
The Committee confirmed the participation of notable women in the upcoming edition, including HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums’ Board of Trustees; Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat; and Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform of Morocco Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, among other influential women in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The ‘Women in Technology: Pioneers’ program is a global leader in supporting women’s participation in the digital economy. Women represented over 40 percent of summit participants, with nearly 47 percent of startups in the previous Web Summit Qatar founded by women, showing the initiative’s success in advancing representation and engagement.
