Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 3535

Caracas: Venezuelan authorities announced today that the death toll from the two consecutive earthquakes that struck the country on June 24 has risen to 3,535.

According to Qatar News Agency, the latest statistics indicate that the number of infected people has reached 16,740, and the number of homeless people has risen to 17,854. The previous death toll was reported as 3,342.

The earthquake, which measured 7.5 on the Richter scale, is reported to be the strongest in Venezuela since 1900. The second earthquake occurred 39 seconds later, predominantly affecting northern Venezuela.
