U23S ADVANCE TO WAFF SEMIS

Jeddah – Saudi Arabia | Our under-23 national team has qualified for the semi-finals of the third West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U-23 Championship, which is being hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 3-15 November.

Syria, Saudi Arabia and Oman have also qualified for the semifinals, which will be played on November 12, 2022 at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah. Qatar vs Syria will kick off at 5 PM, followed by the Saudi Arabia vs Oman match at 9 PM.

The winners of the two matches will meet in the final, which will kick off at 9 PM on the 15th of the same month, while the losing teams will play before in the afternoon from 4 PM, to determine the third and fourth places.

Meanwhile, Lebanon and Bahrain will face off at five in the evening at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium to decide fifth and sixth places.

Our national team qualified for the semi-finals as winners of Group A with 4 points, while Oman came second with 3 points, and Lebanon third with one point.

On the other side, the Saudis topped Group B with 3 points, equal with both Syria and Bahrain but leading by goal difference, which also saw Syria finish second.

The semi-final clashes became clear after the end of the third and final matches of the group stage, which were played on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Al Sala Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City.

The first of those matches saw Qatar’s 1-0 victory over Oman courtesy of Makki Tombari’s 3rd minute goal, before Saudi Arabia defeated Bahrain 2-0, with goals from Ahmed Al-Ghamdi (31’) and Ziad Al-Juhani (58’).
