The two-day meetings of the second session of the team to review the optimal implementation of the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention and the fifth meeting of the open-ended committee of government experts and independent bodies representatives in the state parties to the convention concluded at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League (AL) in Cairo with the participation of the State of Qatar, represented by the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA).
ACTA Head of Technical Office Jassim bin Abdulrahman Al Derhem represented the State of Qatar in the two meetings.
The attendees in the two meetings discussed the Qatari review reports, their organization and schedule, the drawing of lots and implementation mechanisms. They also took stock of the decisions of the 4th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention held in March 2022 in Riyadh and the recommendations of the first session of the optimal implementation review group.

esentatives of the Arab countries signatories to the convention participated in the meetings organized by the Legal Affairs Department of AL’s General Secretariat and Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), in implementation of the recommendations of the 4th Session of Conference of States Parties to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention in Riyadh to form a technical governmental working group from the States Parties in a bid to create and find technical mechanisms to reach the best ways to follow up on the optimal implementation of the agreement.
Approved by the councils of Arab interior and justice ministers at a joint conference on Dec. 21, 2010, the convention seeks Arab cooperation to prevent and combat corruption as a trans-border threat in order to improve the ability and cooperation of states parties to achieve the goals of the convention and facilitate the exchange of information between states parties, international and regional organizations and mechanisms, as well as releva
nt NGOs.
